— Bio —
I'm a geographer specialized in urban policy, urban planning issues & cultural urban development, but above all, I’m interested in cities, Europe and the world. I hold degrees in Planning Geography (MSc 2010) and cultural urban development (MA in European Urban Cultures 2013).
One side of me is an opinion leader and urban planning activist via my blog <urbanfinland.com> and membership in Urban Helsinki, a rebellious planning collective, while the other side of me is a consultant under my business name UrbanisTimo.
I’ve recently worked with a consulting project on business cooperation in land use planning. Earlier (2011-2012), I've worked as a project manager at the Helsinki Region Centre of Expertise in Living with various Helsinki-focused initiatives that aimed to enhance innovativeness in local urban development practices. I've also worked as a research assistant (2010) with the Dep. of Geography at the Uni. of Helsinki in a research project on business clustering in the Greater Helsinki Region.
Besides my educational and professional background in urban planning and development, I have an active interest the world. Following this curiousness about global issues, I have plenty of experience in multicultural environments and international relations. Before receiving my international MA degree, I have for example interned with the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (2010) and the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations (2010-2011).
